Computer augmented creativity: do what I mean, not what I say!
Poetically Generative AI will do what you ask it - a foolproof, flexible interface. But in defiance of poetry - or because of it - what we say and what we mean are often different things and therein lies chaos. This talk examines intent and expression through the lens of Generative AI. We’ll examine the impact of foundational Generative AI models on equity and expressiveness - what biases come along for the ride, and can they be mitigated? The potential for these tools to help tell stories about data is also huge - superficially they generate results that are compelling and accessible - but can it do so without compromising essential data truths?

Bhautik is a Principal Research Engineer at Canva with nearly 25 years of experience in immersive tech, film, TV, games, machine-learning and consumer-facing tools for creativity, having previously worked at CSIRO, Industrial Light & Magic, Flickr and Adobe Research. Across the needs and wants of the next generation of graphics-savvy consumers, Bhautik speaks to the pragmatic reality and future around graphics, immersion and AI.
